Creating Memories

One of the things that I find challenging, in an already challenging tourism environment, is to find ways to keep our company’s image fresh. One must always keep in mind that a constant change of information, thoughts and ideas may water down your core message/company values. However, you do have to remain relevant in today’s ravenous, tech savvy, information hungry times.

When Nicole and I set out to create unique flight experiences we first generate a physical map of our area, what adventures or experiences there are, and where they are located. Flight times, take off and landing distances and other such logistics often rule out solid potential partnerships before we even make the first call. Information is critical and one can never gather enough in my industry.

Whether it is a historical hike on an island out on the Bay, or a trip to an inland horse ranch, we run through the tour several times looking for ways to improve the experience. Where are the deficiencies and how can we turn them into strengths?

Pictures, experts and research. That’s what went into developing the Fly & Hike on Wreck Island. The sad fate of the Waubuno must be handled with dignity and the facts had to be accurate. We walked around the island with naturalists to maximize the experience that we could then pass on to the customer. We then interviewed water taxis to find a way to link this trip with established adventures like the Fly & Dine to Henry’s. Blending excursions like this is harder to pull off logistically, but it creates lasting impressions and gives a much more rounded feel for life out on the Bay.

That is enough blogging for today. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, and it is time to get back to work!

Cheers
